An update on RSV in children in BC, new developments for an old virus
Presenters: Dr. Pascal Lavoie is neonatologist at BC Children's and Women's Health Centre who studies RSV epidemiology and immunity in infants. He also co-chairs the BC RSV Immunoprophylaxis Program that sets provincial guidelines and administer the delivery of palivizumab monoclonal antibodies to high-risk children under 2 years of age in BC. Dr. David Goldfarb is a medical microbiologist at BC Children's and Women's Health Centre also involved closely in the BC RSV Immunoprophylaxis Program and who studies respiratory infections in northern communities in Canada. Summary: The presenters will discuss how the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the RSV landscape in BC, new upcoming interventions and the implication of the changes in RSV epidemiology on disease prevention.
