A Path Towards Measuring Racism in British Columbia’s Population Health and Wellness Reporting - Jorden Hendry, Kate Jongbloed
Despite growing recognition of racism as a determinant of health, this risk factor is not yet systematically measured and reported on within population and public health in BC. We convened a Knowledge Summit titled “Path to Measuring Racism” bringing together Indigenous, Black, and racialized leaders, scholars, and decision-makers from BC to explore how racism manifests in health systems and how it can be measured to drive change. It invited dialogue about what is required to safely and effectively measure racism, and how public health systems can begin to embed this work across different data ecosystems. This presentation will share key findings from the Knowledge Summit.
