Estimating the Population at Risk of Opioid-Related Harms in British Columbia Mallory Flynn
This work advances public health surveillance by providing a more accurate and inclusive estimate of the population at risk of opioid-related harms in BC, beyond those identified through healthcare encounters. By integrating multiple heterogeneous data sources within a hierarchical Bayesian framework, it captures unrecorded or under-reported use, reduces bias in prevalence estimates, and supports more timely, evidence-based policy and resource allocation to address the ongoing overdose crisis.
