A Real World Resistance Profile of Virologic Failures Collected from an International Collaboration (SHARED) 2019 Update
Anita Howe Hepatitis C patients who failed Direct-Acting Antivirals (DAA) often selected viruses with drug resistance-associated substitutions that limit treatment options. SHARED, Surveillance of Hepatitis C Antiviral Resistance, Epidemiology and Methodology, is an international collaboration to study HCV drug resistance and transmission through sharing data, methods, software and technologies. Recent data merger suggested that nearly 90% of the patients who failed therapy selected resistant viruses, and novel mutations previously not observed during clinical trials were detected in real-world clinic.
