Towards Automated Genomic Analysis for Surveillance and Infection-Control of Carbapenemase-Producing Organisms Dan Fornika
TEAM: Dan Fornika, Aishwarya Sridhar, Sam Chorlton, Diane Eisler, Justin Jia, Romali Ranasinghe, William Hsiao, Matthew Croxen, Linda Hoang Outbreaks of carbapenemase-producing organisms are an increasing threat to healthcare facilities. Surveillance and infection control requires timely response, and automated analysis of genomic data will aid in public health response. We have leveraged the IRIDA and Galaxy platforms to automate organism identification, cluster analysis and plasmid characterization. The resulting analyses have led to enhanced standardization and improved efficiencies for infection prevention and control response.
