Modelling of the on-going measles outbreak in Northern Health - Mike Irvine
A recent measles outbreak in Canada has reached some of the highest case rates in years, with notable activity in some communities in Northern Health with low vaccination coverage. We developed a stochastic age- and community-structured transmission model incorporating infection dynamics, vaccination, and public health interventions. The model projected cases and hospitalizations in two communities under various scenarios and assessed the impact of mobility, active case finding, and post-exposure prophylaxis. Results guided public health efforts and offer a framework for guiding future outbreaks.
