Crystal methamphetamine use in British Columbia, Canada: a cross-sectional study of people who access harm reduction services Dylan Collins
TEAM: Kristi Papamihali, Dylan Collins, Mohammad Karamouzian, Jane Buxton BC is an epicentre of the opioid overdose epidemic that has swept North America, primarily driven by fentanyl. The public health focus on opioids, although necessary, has potentially masked a surge of crystal methamphetamine use that has been noted internationally, including a notable increase in the presence of methamphetamines in illicit drug overdose deaths. Crystal meth use needs to be understood both within the context of opioid use and outside of opioid use considering the harmful consequences that may arise. We used data from a cross-sectional survey with clients of harm reduction sites to describe the epidemiology of crystal meth use among people who use substances in BC.
